Sexual Health Wellbeing and Drug Use Harm Reduction for All Islanders

PEERS Alliance supports those living with and at risk for HIV, Hep C and all sexually transmitted infections in PEI by offering a variety of programs and services targeted diverse communities.

Our center serves people of all genders and sexual orientations. We support those who use drugs in developing strategies to reduce the risk of negative health outcomes. Our programming strives to address the underlying issues affecting the health and welfare of our communities by countering stigma and creating environments where all are welcome.

Roots & Shoots: A Supportive Space for Parents, Caregivers, and their Gender Creative Children
PEERS Alliance and Sierra Club PEI Wild Child are partnering this summer to provide a safer & fun space for parents, caregivers, and their gender creative children! For 5 weekly sessions throughout August and early September, youth (Shoots) between age 5-12 years will join Wild Child staff as they explore their identities alongside the vast diversity in nature, while their parents & caregivers (Roots) join PEERS staff to unlearn myths surrounding gender identity and foster a local support network amongst themselves.

We will meet in the Gertrude Cotton Arts Centre at Robert Cotton Park in Stratford. Sessions will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm beginning on August 7th, 2019.

Roots & Shoots is a program based on the two most important parts of a plant. The Roots are responsible for nurturing and supporting the growth of Shoots, so that they may blossom to their fullest potential. Just as with plants, we know that gender creative children flourish in environemtns where they are supported, rather than stifled.

Join us today! Extended family members & cisgender siblings welcome, pending availability. Light refreshments will be provided.
Space is limited.
